BIPOLAR/DEPRESSIVE SUPPORT GROUP LAUNCHES NEW NAME
& WEB RESOURCE
June 9, 2003

The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance of Greater Attleboro (DBSA-Attleboro), a local peer support group for people with affective disorders such as bipolar disorder (manic-depression) and clinical depression, has launched a new free web resource focused on the Greater Attleboro area. The new web site, www.dbsa-attleboro.org, contains a growing database dedicated to the interests of local people afflicted with bipolar disorder or clinical depression and their friends and families.

Along with information on bipolar and depressive disorders, plus listings of local Attleboro-area support groups for bipolars and depressives, Dual Diagnosis, and Friends and Families, the new directory offers a wealth of information on local, state, and national resources ranging from 24 hour hotlines to treatment referrals, health insurance, medications, advocacy groups, and legal and government contact information.  Local agencies and others with resources for bipolars and depressives are encouraged to submit a listing.

Release of this directory coincides with launch of a new name for the former MDDA-Attleboro, now DBSA-Attleboro, which changed its name to correspond with the name change By its parent organization.  DBSA-Attleboro provides confidential support groups where people with affective disorders can speak candidly about issues and coping strategies. DBSA-Attleboro meetings take place every Tuesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Hillside Adult Day Health Center, 50 Walton Street, Attleboro, MA.  Newcomers’ meetings start at 6:45 pm.  The meetings are free and open to anyone with bipolar disorder or clinical depression.  No pre-registration is required.  Further information is available on the Internet at www.dbsa-attleboro.org, via email at info@dbsa-attleboro.org, or by voice mail at 508-222-7525 extension 407.
